This is the Chinese window, over 100 years old, that provided inspiration for the pattern on the water-etched "Bluebird" plate. Salvaged from her ancestors' ancient house in Guangdong,  the window now has a new life over the front door of my friend's new home in Australia.  It looks like the usual lead-light construction, but it isn't. All the framework is made of wood,  beautifully joined, without using nails at all. Click here to go back to the bluebird plate.
